During his collegiate career, 78% of Rondale Moore’s targets came within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage (PFF Stats). Moore was mostly used as a gadget type receiver at Purdue, gaining a lot of his yards on sweeps, screens and quick passes. This wasn’t because he couldn’t make plays downfield, when given the opportunity Moore was dangerous, he just wasn’t asked to do it often. In Arizona’s offense this may change. So far through the first few days of camp the Rookie has been a consistent downfield target for Kyler, frequently coming down with the catch.
Others have predicted Kirk to finally have a breakout year, but I don’t expect it to be long till he’s trailing Moore in snaps, targets and production. Kliff will obviously utilize Moore’s YAC ability by getting him the ball quickly in the screen and sweep game, but with his elite speed and play making ability expect Moore to get a few deep shots per game.
