Joe Manchin Kills the Build Back Better Act

Senator Joe Manchin sent shockwaves across the country Sunday morning. The senator from West Virginia appeared on “Fox News Sunday,” and announced that he would not vote for the Build Back Better bill. Striking a huge blow to President Biden’s agenda. “I cannot vote to continue with this piece of legislation… I just can’t. I’ve tried everything humanly possible.”

After months of negotiations, Joe Manchin finally came to the conclusion that he will be unable to support President Biden’s massive social and climate spending bill. Frustrating Democrats across the country, Senator Manchin specifically cited major concerns over inflation, the national debt, the pandemic and geopolitical uncertainty in his decision.

Democrat’s Respond to Senator Manchin

Democrats ranging from The White House to his Democrat colleagues in Congress released blistering rebukes of Manchin’s decision. The West Wing was reportedly shocked to hear that Joe Manchin had abruptly abandoned negotiations on the Build Back Better act. White House officials were under the impression that the two sides were close to an agreement.
