*EDITORS NOTE* Larry Turner-Gooden Committed/Signed with the Texas Longhorns
With less than a month left in the 2022 recruiting cycle, the Texas Longhorns and Sark are trying to finish this class off strong with a big-time commitment. That comes in the form of 4-star Safety Larry Turner-Gooden out of Mission Hills, CA.
Turner-Gooden is a former Arizona State verbal commit, who de-committed soon after all of the recruiting violations surfaced regarding the Sun Devils. 247 National Recruiting Analyst Greg Biggins had this to say about Turner-Gooden:
“An athletic two-way player who could play safety or receiver in college but projects best as a safety. Plays a physical game with an edge in his game. Has good cover skills and ball awareness and is always around the football. Shows good football instincts and is tough in run support. Has a strong body and has filled out and added size in his upper body over the last year. He shows both short area quickness and has good long speed as well. He’s an excellent return man and should be able to return punts and kicks at the college level. Plays very hard with a consistent motor and has a strong will to win.”Greg Biggins

There is no wonder why Sark has been pursuing Turner-Gooden so aggressively. He is a plug and play guy on either side of the ball and after D’Shawn Jamison graduates he could also take over the kick/punt return duties. However, I see Turner-Gooden joining the Texas secondary if indeed the Longhorns are the pick come Saturday afternoon. Defensive back is an area of need currently for Texas and Turner-Gooden could help bolster that room right away.
When the time comes for Turner-Gooden to make his pick, I do believe the Longhorns will be the pick. He would be an excellent addition to Steve Sarkisian’s first full recruiting class. Turner-Gooden is a consensus top 200 recruit and from all accounts a great young man as well. This won’t be the last addition to the 2022 class with a BIG fish set to commit to Sark and company in early February.
