Browns 2022 Mock Draft 3.0

Browns 2022 Mock Draft 3.o Setup

In our final installment of the Browns 2022 Mock Draft series, we take a look at four different scenarios using three different mock draft simulators. The first three mock drafts, we see different scenarios in which we trade very little. In the last mock draft, we see an aggressive approach in which they only select five players.

Each scenario, I selected one of the three main positions of need in the second round. If a player is selected multiple times, the first time will be the only write up provided. The previous Browns Mock Drafts are available here: Mock Draft 1.0, Mock Draft 2.0 With that being said, let’s get into our Browns 2022 Mock Draft 3.0. All RAS cards come courtesy of Kent Lee Platte and ras.football.

44. Drake Jackson, Edge, USC
Drake Jackson RAS Card

USC’s Drake Jackson is an athletic edge rusher who still needs development, but can grow as a rotational edge rusher for the Browns opposite Myles Garrett. He fits their athleticism and age requirements.

78. Kyle Philips, WR, UCLA
Kyle Philips RAS Card

UCLA’s Kyle Philips is a technician in the slot who can be a plug-and-play starter with Amari Cooper and Donovan Peoples-Jones on the outside.

99. Romeo Doubs, WR, Nevada

Wide receiver Romeo Doubs provides the Browns a solid fourth option who can rotate in and provide another downfield threat behind Peoples-Jones.

118. Cade Otton, TE, Washington

The Browns released Austin Hooper to help free cap space, and Cade Otton can come in and fill his role immediately, but with additional run-after-catch upside.

202. Curtis Brooks, iDL, Cincinnati
Curtis Brooks RAS Card

Cincinnati’s Curtis Brooks fits the Browns athleticism requirements along a position of need.

223. Brad Hawkins, Saf, Michigan
Brad Hawkins RAS Card

Michigan’s Brad Hawkins was opposite Daxton Hill, but flashed at times himself. Hawkins is a solid athlete as well and can contribute on special teams.

246. Nephi Sewell, LB, Utah

The eldest Sewell brother, Nephi Sewell can come in and compete to make the roster as a special teams contributor.

44. George Pickens, WR, Georgia
George Pickens RAS Card

Georgia’s George Pickens can come in and immediately add to the vertical passing game for the Browns. While his skill set overlaps with Donovan Peoples-Jones, he has much more upside than him.

78. Sam Williams, Edge, Ole Miss
Sam Williams RAS Card

Edge rusher Sam Williams provides edge help for the Browns opposite of Myles Garrett. He is very athletic, and has great play strength, but could be off of their board due to his previous off-field issues.

99. Cade Otton, TE, Washington
Trade:

The New York Jets trade pick 111 to the Cleveland Browns for picks 118 and 246.

111. Thomas Booker, iDL, Stanford
Thomas Booker RAS Card

Defensive tackle Thomas Booker is a project along the interior of the defensive line. His athleticism makes him a target for the Browns, and there aren’t a lot of options at defensive tackle.

202. Mario Goodrich, CB, Clemson
Mario Goodrich RAS Card

Clemson cornerback Mario Goodrich is only an average athlete, but he has flashed potential to be a third corner for a team, which would be great value here.

223. Verone McKinley III, Saf, Oregon
Verone McKinley RAS Card

Safety Verone McKinley has incredible ball production, but he is a bad athlete and his tape is not good. However, ball skills have a tendency to translate, and a pick this late is a throwaway selection.

44. Travis Jones, iDL, UCONN
Travis Jones RAS Card

The Browns get an experienced one-technique who is extremely athletic and physical. Travis Jones will be an immediate starter who would be their best player on the interior. He combines fantastic strength with incredible fluidity.

78. Josh Paschal, Edge, Kentucky

Josh Paschal RAS Card

Kentucky’s Josh Paschal is a strong defensive end who can kick inside if necessary on passing downs. The Browns tend to value that versatility, and he has the athletic upside to be a high-end starter.

99. Bryan Cook, Saf, Cincinnati

Ronnie Harrison is under contract for one more season with the Browns, and they will need a long-term replacement. Bryan Cook can come in and compete with last year’s fifth round selection Richard LeCounte for the fourth safety position.

Trade:

The Cleveland Browns trade pick 118 to the Chicago Bears for picks 148 and 150.

148. Kyle Philips, WR, UCLA
150. Thomas Booker, iDL, Stanford
202. Chigoziem Okonkwo, TE, Maryland

Chigoziem “Chig” Okonkwo is a versatile move tight end who can play a variety of roles. He is a great value here, and could be in play at 118.

223. Matt Araiza, P, San Diego State

Top punter prospect Matt Araiza is extremely exciting, but the Browns have a solid punter on the roster. However, Araiza has a huge leg and can punt it up to 80 yards.

246. Isaiah Weston, WR, Northern Iowa

The Browns already have a highly athletic receiver who can help provide a deep threat, but Isaiah Weston can be brought in as a developmental option.

Trade:

The Indianapolis Colts trade pick 42 to the Cleveland Browns for picks 44 and 246.

42. David Ojabo, Edge, Michigan
David Ojabo RAS Card Browns 2022 NFL Mock Draft
David Ojabo RAS Card

David Ojabo falling was too good an opportunity to pass up, so the Browns traded up in front of an edge rusher-needy Falcons team. Only giving up a 7th round pick was good value. Ojabo is a high-upside prospect who would’ve gone in the top half of the first round prior to his Achilles tear. He is a very flexible edge rusher with a high pass rushing upside. This is my favorite selection in my Browns 2022 NFL Mock Draft 3.0.

78. Alec Pierce, WR, Cincinnati

Alec Pierce is a high-upside X receiver who can play behind Donovan Peoples-Jones early on and eventually earn the starting role.

99. Bryan Cook, Saf, Cincinnati
118. Cade Otton, TE, Washington
Trade:

The Chicago Bears trade pick 150 to the Cleveland Browns for picks 202 and 223.

150. Kyle Philips, WR, UCLA
