Green Bay Packers 2023 Draft Board: Offense

Welcome to my Green Bay Packers draft board for the 2023 NFL draft. This will be the second year I have produced my Packers draft board publicly. You can see last year’s article for the offense. Please refer to my article from last year if you have any questions on how it works, or you can contact me on twitter @bmaafi. You can also find the Risendraft database that I work on for more info on these and other players.

Now, there are players who will not appear on the board. If they don’t, they are in one of two groups; either they did not meet Green Bay’s athletic thresholds or they do not have enough athletic testing to qualify for an RAS score. Yes, RAS is part of it; no the Packers do not use RAS, but they do have some sort of internal measurement base that aligns pretty close to RAS.

Same as last year, if there is a test in red next to a players name that means that their test ended up borderline on the Packers thresholds, so that player may or may not be on their board. Usually its an issue if a player has more than one test on the borderline. Players will be listed in RAS order, for no particular reason other than it’s just easy for me.

Quarterbacks:

With the Packers moving on from Aaron Rodgers they are more than likely to take one, possibly two, quarterbacks. The front office doesn’t have too many thresholds for their quarterbacks. Usually 6’2-ish and 210+, with decent athleticism to move around in the pocket and be able to pick up a first down here and there. Also, a lot of quarterbacks don’t test, so the list will be short.

  • Anthony Richardson – Florida – 10
  • Clayton Tune – Houston – 9.8
  • Sean Clifford – Penn State – 9.03
  • Tyson Bagnet – Shepherd – 9
  • Tanner McKee – Stanford – 8.8
  • Turner Pullen – McKendree – 8.62 3-cone
  • Connor Degenhardt – New Haven – 8.03 3-cone
  • Tommy Devito – Illinois – 7.89
  • Tim Demorat – Fordham – 7.29

Of course, I am expecting guys like Hendon Hooker and Holton Ahlers (ECU) to be on the Packers’ draft board, too.

Running backs:

The Packers tend to like their backs 5’10+ and 210+, with a sub 4.6 40-yard dash, 9’7″ or better broad jump, and a 3-cone of 7.2 or lower. With AJ Dillion a free agent after 2023 and Aaron Jones getting older and his cap hit, I am expecting at least one of them to be gone, possibly both. So, expect Green Bay to draft at least one running back.

  • Deneric Prince – Tulsa – 9.87
  • Bijan Robinson – Texas – 9.83
  • Chase Brown – Illinois – 9.79
  • Israel Abanikanda – Pittsburgh – 9.61
  • Darius Hagans – Virginia State – 9.49
  • Xazavian Valladay – Arizona State – 9.46
  • Evan Hull – Northwestern – 9.32 short shuttle
  • Isaiah Bowser – UCF – 8.87
  • Zach Evans – Ole Miss – 8.73
  • Zach Charbonnet – UCLA – 8.7 short shuttle
  • Roschon Johnson – Texas – 8.66
  • TJ Green – Liberty – 8.49
  • Khalan Laborn – Marshall – 8.46 height
  • Andrew Clair – Northwestern – 8.35 height
  • Tank Bigsby – Auburn – 8.32 – broad jump
  • Emari Demercado – TCU – 8.22
  • Ike Irabor – Union College – 8.18
  • Jahmyr Gibbs – Alabama – 8.05
  • Tyler Hoosman – North Dakota – 7.95 arm length
  • Chadarius Townsend – Texas Tech – 7.88
  • Tyjae Spears – Tulane – 7.5 3 cone
  • Emmanuel Wilson – Fort Valley State – 6.82 short shuttle

As with the quarterbacks, there are running backs who haven’t worked out or don’t have enough tests to qualify for an RAS score that I expect are still on their board. Guys like Lew Nichols – Central Michigan, Sean Tucker – Syracuse, Kendre Miller – TCU, and Dewayne McBride – UAB.

Wide Receivers:

It has been well established that Green Bay likes their receivers 6’0+ 195+ with a 40-yard dash of 4.5 or better and a 3-cone 7.00 or faster, with an overall RAS of 8 or better. Their thresholds are around 5’9 190, 4.6 40-yard dash, 31″ arms, and a 3-cone of 7.07. A willing blocker is also a must.

While the Packers have Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and Samouri Toure, that is still not enough. Brian Gutekunkst has said they want a vet, but I still feel they will draft someone on day two or early day three at the latest.

  • Bryce Ford-Wheaton – West Virginia – 9.97
  • Andrei Iosivas – Princeton – 9.96
  • Jonathan Mingo – Ole Miss – 9.86
  • Matt Landers – Arkansas – 9.85 Short shuttle
  • Colton Dowell – Tennessee-Martin – 9.78 3-cone
  • Cody Chrest – Sam Houston State – 9.77 arm length
  • AT Perry – Wake Forest – 9.62
  • Michael Wilson – Stanford – 9.55 arm length, 40 time
  • Rashee Rice – SMU – 9.53
  • Chase Cota – Oregon – 9.33
  • Dontayvion Wicks – Virginia – 9.16 40 time
  • Oliver Martin – Nebraska – 9.15arm length
  • Zavier Scott – Maine – 9.14 Arm length
  • CJ Lewis – Bowling Green – 9.05 short shuttle
  • Jason Brownlee – Southern Miss – 8.95 40 time, short shuttle
  • David Zorilla – Bryant – 8.81 arm length, 40 time
  • Grant DuBose – Charlotte – 8.78 40 time, short shuttle
  • Thyrick Pitts – Delaware – 8.68
  • Antoine Green – North Carolina – 8.66
  • Garrett Maag – North Dakota – 8.51 Short shuttle
  • Rakim Jarrett – Maryland – 8.4
  • Braydon Johnson – Oklahoma State – 8.37 broad jump
  • Jaxon Smith-Njigba – OSU – 8.34 arm length
  • Daniel Arias – Colorado – 7.62
  • Mitchell Tinsley – Penn State – 7.39
  • Xavier Hutchinson – Iowa State – 7.25 broad jump, short shuttle

There aren’t many players who didn’t test, but there are some that are likely off the board that I hope the Packers make exceptions for: Cedric Tillman – Tennessee, Jacob Copeland – Maryland, Michael Jefferson – Louisiana-Lafayette, and Elijah Cooks – San Jose State.

Tight Ends:

When it comes to tight ends, the Packers are not very particular. They tend to go for guys with decent size, 6’4-6’6, and that weigh 245+. The average RAS score from Thompson through Gutekunst is 6.08. They do like tight ends who can do a little of everything.

With LaFleur, they have expanded to guys who are 6’3 and have used them in the H-back role, but they usually like Y-type tight ends. With essentially one tight end on the roster, there is a big need here. Expect them to take two.

  • Zach Kuntz – Old Dominion – 10
  • Darnell Washington – Georgia – 9.88
  • Luke Schoonmaker – Michigan – 9.86
  • Luke Musgrave – Oregon State – 9.78
  • Tucker Kraft – South Dakota State – 9.67
  • Major Roman – Yale – 9.19
  • Brenton Strange – Penn State – 9.09
  • Will Mallory – Miami (Fla.) – 9.06 weight
  • Sam LaPorta – Iowa – 9.02
  • Blake Whiteheart – Wake Forest – 8.98
  • Josh Whyle – Cincinnati – 8.97
  • Davis Allen – Clemson – 8.57 3-cone
  • Travis Vokelek – Nebraska – 7.95
  • Michael Mayer – Notre Dame – 7.64
  • Payne Durham – Purdue – 6.57

Similar to wide receiver, there aren’t many guys who didn’t work out that will be on the Packers’ draft board. Dalton Kincaid – Utah is probably the only one.

Offensive tackle:

There are some differences in how the Packers scout their offensive tackles versus their interior offensive linemen with regards to things like arm length, and athletic testing in general. They are a lot more forgiving on the interior versus outside.

The Packers tend to like their tackles with 33″ arms or longer and over 300 pounds, a 3-cone of 7.7 or faster, and a sub 5.2 40-yard dash. Depending on what happens with Zach Tom, David Bahktiari, and Yosh Nijman, the Packers very well could be in the market for a future LT or RT. It is a position I expect them to target in this class.

  • Blake Freeland – BYU – 9.83
  • Jake Witt – Northern Michigan – 9.8
  • Broderick Jones – Georgia – 9.58
  • Nick Saldiveri – Old Dominion – 9.48
  • Earl Bostick – Kansas – 9.42
  • Henry Byrd – Princeton – 9.1 3-cone
  • Braeden Daniels – Utah – 8.74 weight
  • John Ojukwu – Boise State – 8.73
  • Matthew Bergeron – Syracuse – 8.72
  • Demontrey Jacobs – USF – 8.38 vertical
  • Wanya Morris – Oklahoma – 8.35
  • Luke Haggard – Indiana – 8.26 vertical
  • Anton Harrison – Oklahoma – 7.93 short shuttle
  • Jordan Boatman – 7.87 40 time
  • Kilian Zierer – Auburn – 7.84 vertical
  • Alex Palczewski – Illinois – 7.78
  • Cooper Hodges – App State – 6.67 3-cone

Of offensive tackles that did not work out, there is, of course, the big dawg Paris Johnson – OSU. He and Carter Warren – Pitt are the two that I would think are on Green Bay’s board. Jaelyn Duncan is likely off their board, but I hope they make an exception for him.

The front office is a little more forgiving on 40-yard dash times and arm length. Just three times in the past have the Packers taken guards without tackle experience. There will be some college tackles on this list due to their short arms. The heaviest they have drafted was 321. Those without tackle experience will be marked with an *. Players with a (C) next to their names are primarily centers.

  • Tyler Steen – Alabama – 9.94
  • Peter Skoronski – Northwestern – 9.89
  • Cody Mauch – North Dakota State – 9.87
