Two Giants Make the MLB All-Star Futures Game

The MLB All-Star Futures Game takes place Sunday, July 11, at Coors Field in Colorado; the Futures Game will have two San Francisco Giants prospects playing in it. Those two players are Marco Luciano and Heliot Ramos.

Marco Luciano SS

San Francisco signed Marco Luciano back in 2018 during the International signing period. At the time, Luciano was the No.2 ranked international prospect. When the Giants signed him, he was just 16 years old; Luciano has star-level upside and excellent bat speed. The Shortstop has all the tools to be an impact hitter. With Luciano’s combination of raw power and bat speed, he could be a superstar in the making.

This season, Luciano is batting .278 with 12 home runs. He is currently playing in Low-A ball in San Jose. According to Baseball America, Luciano is the 7th best prospect. Luciano’s ETA to be in majors is 2023.

Heliot Ramos OF

Heliot Ramos is a corner outfielder that can hit with power. He has a flashed 30-homer potential, and in 2019, Ramos hit 16 homers in 102 games for San Jose and Richmond. The one thing Ramos needs to cut down on his strikeouts. He struck out 136 times and walking just 35 in Low-A. In Higher-A, Ramos struck out 85 times and walked 32 times.

Ramos got off to a good start this year in Double-A but has struggled in June. Ramos is hitting .136 this month, and for the season, he is batting .236, with five home runs. Ramos was on the fast track to the big leagues when the season started, but his June slump has slowed that down.
